Israel contemplates ‘limited strike’ on Iran
Israeli officials are exploring several options for a "limited strike" that would require minimal US involvement, in contrast to a more extensive and prolonged bombing campaign that had previously been under consideration. Israel is reportedly discussing potential strike plans with Washington, with timelines suggesting late spring or summer for the action. However, a senior Israeli official emphasized that no final decision has been reached yet.
On Wednesday, The New York Times reported that US President Donald Trump had rejected Israel’s proposal for broader strikes, instead choosing to pursue diplomatic efforts. Trump expressed his preference for peace, stating that he hoped Iran could prosper without conflict and that diplomacy remained his top priority.
In response, a senior Iranian security official claimed that Tehran had received intelligence indicating that Israel was planning a major attack on its nuclear sites. Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that they would retaliate against any aggression.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi remarked that the recent talks in Rome were constructive, with both sides making "very good progress," according to a US official.
