Putin's Envoy Expresses Hope for Relations with US
(MENAFN) A senior economic adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced hope for diplomatic progress between Russia and the United States.
His statement came in the wake of a visit to the Kremlin by Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s special representative, during which discussions centered on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
On Wednesday, in a message posted on X, Kirill Dmitriev—who serves as the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF)—expressed gratitude to his audience in English for their “kind wishes for a successful visit of Steve Witkoff to Moscow,” affirming his belief that “Dialogue will prevail.”
His remarks underscored the importance of maintaining communication and diplomatic channels between the two nations.
Dmitriev was part of the Russian delegation that welcomed Witkoff upon his arrival at Vnukovo Airport.
The two officials were later observed walking together through Zaryadye Park, a prominent location near the Kremlin.
Later that day, Witkoff engaged in direct discussions with President Putin.
The meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, marked a significant moment in ongoing efforts to address tensions between the two countries.
According to video shared by a news agency, the American envoy’s motorcade was seen departing the Kremlin following the meeting.
Kremlin adviser Yury Ushakov later commented on the dialogue, stating that the discussions had been constructive and fruitful, primarily addressing the situation in Ukraine and exploring “prospects for US-Russia strategic cooperation.”
