China’s Xi Reaffirms Commitment to Ukraine Peace Talks

(MENAFN) In a Friday statement, Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China's steady position on the Ukraine crisis, committing to the continuous promotion of peace talks regardless of how the situation progresses.

During a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Xi laid out China's principles and perspective on the conflict, noting that intricate issues rarely have simple solutions. He also expressed China's approval of the continued communication between Russia and the United States, which Beijing views as crucial for improving relations and advancing a political resolution to the crisis.

Putin briefed Xi on Russia’s view of the current situation in Ukraine and its recent interactions with the United States. Putin expressed that Russia deeply values the constructive role China has played in seeking a political settlement. He asserted that the strategic partnership between Russia and China would remain strong, regardless of external circumstances, and that Russia is ready to maintain close dialogue with China.

Both leaders commended the strong political trust and strategic alignment between their countries. They agreed to collaborate on bolstering China-Russia relations and to work together to prepare for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Tianjin Summit. Their goal is for the summit to be a success, fostering friendship and unity while advancing the organization’s development.
