Jordan witnesses intense heatwaves

(MENAFN) Jordan is currently enduring a severe heatwave, with extremely high temperatures expected to persist across most regions through Wednesday, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD). Sunday’s weather will be hot over the high mountainous areas and extremely hot elsewhere. Medium to high-altitude clouds are expected to appear throughout the day, with a chance of brief, scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in the southern and eastern parts of the country. Winds will blow moderately from the northeast to northwest, occasionally picking up speed and stirring dust, especially in desert regions.

The intense heat is predicted to continue through Wednesday, with similar conditions prevailing—hot over elevated terrain and extremely hot in other areas. Light, localized showers may fall briefly in isolated parts of southern and eastern Jordan.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 41 degrees Celsius in East Amman with lows of 26, 39 degrees in West Amman, 37 degrees in the northern highlands, 38 in the Sharah Highlands, and 43 degrees in desert regions. The plains will see highs of 40 degrees, while the northern and southern Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea are expected to experience temperatures around 42 degrees. Aqaba is also forecast to reach 43 degrees Celsius.
