US, UK Officials Convene Near London

(MENAFN) US Vice-President JD Vance and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy recently hosted a gathering of security representatives near London to deliberate on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The discussions reportedly took place following a request from the United States.

Joining the two were Ukrainian authorities alongside national security advisers from various European countries.

Lammy affirmed that the "UK's support for Ukraine remains ironclad as we continue working towards a just and lasting peace."

This meeting occurred amid Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s firm declaration that he will not yield any territorial claims to Russia.

His statement came ahead of a forthcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled next week in Alaska.

The session on Saturday was held at Chevening, the official countryside residence of Foreign Secretary Lammy in Kent, where Vance and his family were also staying.

Among the attendees were Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, and Andriy Yermak, head of President Zelensky’s office.

Officials representing the UK, US, EU, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and NATO were also present.

Prior to the meeting, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with President Zelensky and noted their mutual agreement that the gathering would serve as a "vital forum" to evaluate progress towards achieving peace.
