Xi Jinping Hosts Major Parade in China
(MENAFN) Beijing is poised to host one of the most significant diplomatic summits in recent memory this Wednesday.
Global attention is centered on the attendance of Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with his counterparts from Russia and Iran, and notably, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
This gathering marks a rare moment of unity among these four nations, drawing interest from political observers worldwide.
For Kim Jong Un, this will be his first appearance at a multilateral event since assuming leadership in 2011.
It also represents an unprecedented occasion where the heads of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea will convene in one location.
The leaders will participate in a grand military parade in Beijing, held to honor China’s triumph over Japanese aggression during World War II and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
The Chinese capital has extended invitations to no fewer than 26 international dignitaries for the ceremony.
The event will showcase China’s military strength and feature a speech from 72-year-old Xi Jinping, now in his third term as president and serving concurrently as the general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party.
“It obviously is a very important occasion,” stated Martin Jacques, a prominent British analyst, in a phone interview with a news agency.
Jacques emphasized the relevance of this moment amid rising global instability and mounting tensions.
He attributed much of the unrest to “US President Donald Trump’s tariffs,” which he said have disrupted international markets and disregarded distinctions between allies and adversaries.
Despite China’s success in negotiating a temporary pause in the tariff conflict for the third time—at least until early November—Washington's allies, such as South Korea and Japan, along with other key partners, continue to bear the burden of additional duties on their exports to the United States, the globe’s largest economy.
