Istanbul Airport Emerges as Europe’s Leading Flight Hub
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Istanbul Airport emerged as Europe’s busiest airport last week, handling an average of 1,635 flights daily between August 18 and 24, according to recent weekly data released by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol).
This performance positioned Istanbul Airport ahead of other major European hubs, including Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which recorded 1,450 flights per day, and Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport, with an average of 1,432 daily flights. Frankfurt Airport followed closely with 1,384 flights, while London Heathrow handled 1,346 flights daily during the same period.
In addition to Istanbul’s dominance, the Turkish Riviera’s Antalya Airport also made a strong showing, ranking as the eighth-busiest airport across Europe with 1,055 daily flights. These figures highlight Türkiye’s growing prominence as a key aviation hub on the continent, with Istanbul and Antalya airports playing pivotal roles in managing increased passenger and cargo volumes amid a recovering air travel market.
