Baykar Official Calls for Global “Technological Solidarity Alliance”
(MENAFN) Selçuk Bayraktar, board chairman and chief technology officer of Baykar, has called for the formation of a “Technological Solidarity Alliance” between allied and developing countries, warning that global technology monopolies may threaten national sovereignty, privacy, and individual freedoms.
Speaking at the SAHA 2026 International Defense and Aerospace Exhibition in Istanbul, Bayraktar argued that the world is facing not only a technological turning point but also a moral one, stressing that future technologies should be developed with a focus on ethics, justice, and human dignity.
He described the event as more than a traditional defense and technology exhibition, framing it instead as a critical moment for discussing how humanity can preserve freedom and dignity in the face of rapid technological change.
Bayraktar said modern risks are no longer limited to conventional military threats, but increasingly arise from interconnected digital systems embedded in supply chains, data infrastructure, and everyday consumer technologies.
He warned that what he described as “techno-capitalist global domination” now represents a major challenge to independence, influencing everything from digital platforms to personal devices.
According to his remarks, technologies originally promoted as tools for democratizing information and supporting global peace have gradually evolved into systems that create dependency and control.
He also criticized the way social media and digital platforms operate, arguing that algorithms are increasingly designed to maximize engagement by targeting emotional responses and psychological vulnerabilities, rather than prioritizing accuracy or public benefit.
